Message from TASFAA President:

Benjamin Franklin once penned, “In this world, nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.” I suggest adding one more certainty: change—especially in the financial aid world. Gone are the days of duplicate adding machine tapes, SULA calculations, Perkins Loans, Estimated Family Contributions, and now, Graduate PLUS loans. Final rules have been published, and the implementation process for the One Big Beautiful Bill Act continues to present significant challenges.

As an organization dedicated to supporting financial aid administrators, we recognize both the weight of these changes and the resilience of the professionals we serve. Our role is to provide guidance, advocacy, and community—ensuring administrators have the tools, training, and support needed to navigate complexity with confidence. We remain committed to standing alongside you, amplifying your voice, and helping translate policy into practice while keeping students at the center.

We serve a wide and diverse population of students: first-generation students navigating the unfamiliar terrain of higher education, traditional full-time students leaving the familiarity of home, adult learners balancing school with careers and families, transfer students working to stay on track toward completion, and veterans and military-connected students transitioning to civilian life. We support students from both rural and urban communities, those attending part-time while managing competing responsibilities—and many others whose paths are anything but traditional and all of whom could be facing unexpected financial hardships. Each journey is unique, and financial aid remains a critical bridge to opportunity. Your work builds that bridge.

The demands of this profession are significant, but they pale in comparison to the impact of helping one more student succeed. Together, we will continue to meet change head-on, support one another, and uphold the mission that drives us forward.

One more student.

Melissa Jones
TASFAA President
